Book Research

We had a large scale writing project involving numerous interviews and lots of archival materials. Janet handled everything seamlessly. She delivered the project with minimal coordination on my end and the final product was outstanding.

Maine’s Museums – The book

Maine’s Museums:  Art, Oddities & Artifacts is out! Many thanks to my publisher, Countryman Press, a division of W.W. Norton. Those folks made this project a pleasure from start to finish.   It’s available now in paperback or ebook from Barnes & Noble or Amazon  or your favorite local bookseller.

Why museums? Here’s what I told the Portsmouth (NH) Herald, Sunday May 29, 2011.

At book events I’ve been talking about ways to create interesting theme destinations for daytrips and vacations based on your special interests. I’ve also been telling folks about the wonderful people I met while researching the book. They’re passionate about the stories revealed in their collections of fine and folk art, maritime and local history, natural science, Native American arts, and some really wierd stuff’. The book has nearly 100 photographs and interviews with Donna McNeil, director, Maine Arts Commission; Earle Shettleworth, Jr., State Historian; and nationally acclaimed painter Barbara Ernst Prey.
